Coming from Tally?

Every Tally term mapped to its Finocket equivalent — Voucher / Ledger / Party / Narration / Day Book / F-key shortcuts and more.

Finocket speaks Tally too. Every Tally term maps to a Finocket equivalent — usually familiar (Day Book, Outstanding, Cost Centre), sometimes renamed for clarity (Voucher → Entry, Party → Client). This cheat sheet shows all of them.

Tally → Finocket

VoucherEntry

Any record — payment, expense, invoice, visit.

LedgerAccount / Client

A party's outstanding balance. Finocket uses Client for receivables.

PartyClient

Customer or vendor. Finocket has only Clients for now.

NarrationDescription / Notes

Free-text comment on a voucher.

Day BookDay Book

Same name. Chronological list of every voucher.

OutstandingOutstanding

Same name. Unpaid invoices bucketed by overdue days.

Cost CentreProject

Bucket for tracking income/expense per engagement.

Receipt Voucher (F6)Payment (Add → Payment)

Sales Voucher (F8)Invoice (Invoices → New)

Bill to a client.

Credit NoteInvoices → New → Credit Note

Multi-line debit/credit entry. Planned once the customer base asks for it.

Bank ReconciliationOn the roadmap

Column toggles and report options live on each screen's header.

Alt + CCreate new in pickers

Type a name no client matches — the dropdown shows an inline Create entry.

Ctrl + ASave button

Save the current form. ⌘S / Ctrl+S also works on desktop.

Ctrl + NPress K (calculator)

Open the quick calculator. K from any page.

EscBack arrow / system back

Unwind one level. Browser back works as expected.

F-keys (F4-F9)Single letters (P / E / V / J / O / R / C / A / H)

P=Payment, E=Expense, V=Visit, J=Day Book, O=Outstanding, R=Reports, C=Cashbook, A=Add menu, H=Home.

Turn on Tally mode

Open the tour and pick the Tally branch on step 1. This sets your terminology preference to "accountant" — throughout the app, labels flip to Tally-familiar terms (Party instead of Client, Voucher instead of Entry). You can toggle it any time from Profile → Preferences.

Try with sample data

The Tally branch of the tour offers a "Try with sample data" button on its final step. Finocket seeds three clients, a few projects, and a couple of weeks of vouchers so your Day Book has something to explore. Full walkthrough.
