Every accounting app has the same problem on day one: you can't feel how it works until you have data. Finocket's sample-data sandbox seeds a realistic-looking consultancy — three sample clients, a few projects, a handful of payments and expenses across the last two weeks — so you can explore every screen with believable numbers before touching your real books.

Turn it on

Three places surface the sample-data action:

Dashboard first-run card — when your books have zero clients and zero invoices, the "Get started" card at the top of the dashboard offers "Try with sample data" alongside "Add your first client" and "Take a quick tour".
Tour step 3 (Tally branch) — if you picked the Tally-user branch on the tour, the final step offers "Try with sample data" so you land on a populated Day Book straight away.
Profile → Account & privacy — an "Add sample data" button plus a "Clear sample data" button so you can seed and clear on demand.

What gets seeded

Three sample clients — an individual (Rajesh Kumar), a builder (Priya Constructions), a family (Sharma Family) — each with a Hyderabad address so intra-state GST examples work.
Two projects per client.
Two site visits per client, dated in the last two weeks.
Four sample payments across UPI, Cash and Bank Transfer.
Five sample expenses across Travel, Food, Automobile, Health Care.

How to find the sample rows later

Every seeded row has [SAMPLE] as the first six characters of its name or description. You can filter or search for that prefix on any list screen to see just the sample data, or use the "Clear sample data" button to delete every row that starts with the prefix — one-tap cleanup.

The prefix approach means your real entries are never at risk. Nothing else gets removed when you clear sample data — the check is on the name/description prefix, not on time-of-entry.

Try it now

Sign in and open your dashboard. If your books are empty, the "Get started" card will appear; tap "Try with sample data". The page reloads and every screen suddenly has content to explore — visits pinned to the map, invoices piling up, expenses categorised, KPIs animating.
