A partner — a reseller, an agency, or a CA — can set a client’s Finocket workspace up on their behalf: GSTIN, opening balances, a plan, and any promo already applied. The client then claims it with one email and it becomes theirs, fully set up, with nothing to re-enter.
What the partner does
From Partner workspaces, a partner fills in the prospect’s GSTIN, the owner’s name/email/phone with a DPDP acknowledgement, a plan or trial, and an optional promo — then sends a claim link. The workspace exists from that moment: the partner is signed in as themselves, with an ordinary admin seat, and can log invoices, set up the chart of accounts and get the books moving while the claim link sits in the prospect’s inbox.
Never impersonation. The partner is always acting under their own login. Nothing about this borrows the client’s session or credentials, and every action the partner takes is attributed to their own seat, auditable the same way any other admin’s actions are.
What the client does
The claim email names the exact address to sign up with. Opening the link and signing up with that address hands ownership to the client immediately — the GSTIN, company details, plan and any promo the partner already set up are already there. A claim link is valid for 30 days; after that, the partner needs to resend it.
What happens to the partner’s access
The partner’s seat survives the claim — it does not silently disappear, and it does not silently keep working unannounced either. The new owner gets a first-login notice naming the partner and what seat they hold, and the Team screen marks that row distinctly: “Added by [Partner] while setting up your workspace, [date].” From there it is an ordinary admin seat — the owner can revoke it exactly the way they would revoke any other team member’s access, any time.
What the partner’s seat never holds, even while it exists: bank-feed, filing and payment-gateway credentials, and AI-autonomy or AI-action-reversal rights. Those stay gated to the owner alone, regardless of who else has admin access.
When a claim link is refused
A handful of checks keep this safe rather than convenient-but-loose:
- The business is already a customer. One legal entity is one Finocket org — a GSTIN or PAN already attached to an existing workspace refuses a second, separate one.
- Self-referral. A partner cannot provision a workspace using their own account email as the owner.
- Too many open drafts. Each partner has a cap on how many unclaimed workspaces they can have open at once — ask the client to claim, or cancel an old draft, before starting a new one.
- An expired or already-claimed link. The claim page says which, without revealing anything about a link that was never yours.
