Plays and next actions

A beta add-on that scores the companies you research on fit and timing, runs follow-up plays that stop the moment someone replies, and gives your team one list of what to do next. Every email follows your consent rules.

Plays is a beta add-on for the companies you research. It scores each company on how well it fits and whether the timing is right, follows up with the right contact through a play, and gives your team one list of what to do next. Every email a play sends follows your consent rules, and a play stops at its next step once someone has replied (reply is one of the stop conditions a play carries).

Where do I see it?

Open Prospect companies. Two panels appear above the list when Plays is on: Next actions and Plays in progress.

How is a company scored?

Each company gets a score from 0 to 100 made of two halves: fit (should we sell to this company?) and timing (is it now?). Fit reads things like the company’s tier, its size, its compliance exposure and how much of its buying group you cover. Timing reads things like hiring, recent two-way contact, how well you know the account and a new signal in the last 7 days.

The score maps to a band: hot from 70, warm from 45, otherwise nurture. The score is made of plain rules with points, not a hidden model, and each rule that fired is recorded. A fact nobody has recorded counts as unknown and earns no points. A company with no score yet has no score, which is not a score of zero.

What is a play?

A play is a short sequence of steps: an email, or a task for someone on your team, each after a delay. It says which companies it applies to, and when it must stop. A play has between 1 and 8 steps, and a company that finishes a play waits out a cooling-off period before it can be enrolled in the same play again.

When does a play stop?

A play checks its stop conditions before every step. It can stop when:

  • the company replies,
  • a meeting is booked,
  • a deal is opened,
  • an email bounces,
  • the company drops below a band the play sets, such as falling from warm to nurture.

Two more always apply: you can stop a play by hand, and a play ends at the step where your consent or suppression rules refuse the send.

Will it email someone who said no?

No. Every email step goes through the same consent and suppression check as the rest of Finocket’s outreach, and a play marked as cold outreach is flagged as cold when that check runs. If the check refuses a send, nothing is sent and the play ends there.

How do I use Next actions?

The list shows what the team should do next, hottest companies first. A row comes from a play’s task step, from a weak account-health input, or from a gap in what you know about the company, and says which. Each row links to its company.

  • Claim takes an open action for you. Two people cannot claim the same one: if someone got there first you are told and the list refreshes.
  • Done, Release and Dismiss are offered to the person who claimed it. Release puts it back for the team.
  • Dismiss removes an action you do not intend to do. Anyone can dismiss an open one; once claimed, only the claimer can.

How do I stop a play by hand?

Plays in progress lists the companies being followed up now, the step each is on and when the next step is due. Choose Stop on a row and nothing further is sent to that company by that play.

What if a panel says it isn’t set up, or couldn’t be read?

“Not set up on this server yet” means the feature is not installed here, so nothing can be saved or shown. “Could not read” means the page failed to load, and the message says it is not an empty list: try again. An empty panel says so in words (“Nothing to do right now” or “No company is in a play right now”).

Frequently asked questions

Why can't I see Next actions or Plays in progress?

Plays is a beta add-on and is off until it is switched on for your workspace. Ask the owner to turn on Plays & next actions in Modules. It also needs Advanced CRM, so Prospect companies must be on.

Will a play email someone who has already replied?

No. A play checks its stop conditions before every step, and a reply is one of them, so it halts at the next run. Every email also passes your consent and suppression check, and a refused send ends the play.

What do hot, warm and nurture mean?

They are bands of a 0 to 100 score. Hot is 70 or more, warm is 45 or more, and anything lower is nurture. The score is made of plain rules with points, split into fit and timing, and a company with no score yet has none, which is not zero.
