Using a partner's code when you sign up

What typing a partner's code does at sign-up (it shows who referred you and grants nothing), what the unticked consent box shares, and how to change your mind later.

Business owner

If a partner gave you a code or a link, you can use it when you create your account. The code field on the sign-up screen is optional, and it can also be filled in for you when you open a partner’s link.

What typing a code does

  • It shows who referred you once the code is recognised. It grants nothing by itself.
  • A code that is not recognised looks exactly like one that is still being typed, so nobody can use the field to find out which codes exist.
  • It works whether you sign up with email, Google, Apple or Microsoft.

The consent box

Under a recognised code there is a checkbox asking whether to share your business name, your name, email and mobile with that partner. It starts unticked every time and clears if the code stops being recognised. Leaving it unticked is a complete choice: the partner then sees masked initials only.

Changing your mind

Open Settings, Your partner at any time to share or stop sharing. The partner is masked again from their very next screen.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to tick the box?

No. It starts unticked, and leaving it that way is a complete choice: the partner sees masked initials only.

Why does an unknown code show nothing?

An unrecognised code looks the same as one still being typed, so the field cannot be used to discover which codes exist.
