Phone, tablet and desktop: what each is best for

One app, one set of books, on every screen — the phone for the counter and the field, the tablet for a wider view, the desktop for closing the books with a keyboard.

Finocket is one app on every screen - the same books, the same GST return, the same customer list - but a phone, a tablet and a desktop are good at different things. Use whichever is in your hand; nothing you do on one is unavailable on another.

Phone - the counter, the till, the field

This is where most of a working day happens: ringing a sale, recording a payment the moment it lands, photographing a bill with Scan-to-Add instead of typing it in later. Install Finocket as an app and it opens from your home screen like any other app - no browser tab to hunt for.

A weak signal or none at all does not stop you: what you record queues and syncs the moment coverage returns - see Offline & sync for the full picture.

Tablet - the counter with room to see more

Everything the phone does, with the catalogue, the day sheet or the stock count laid out wide enough to read at a glance - useful behind a shop counter or on a visit where you are showing a screen to someone else, a quote or a catalogue page, rather than working heads-down alone.

Desktop - closing the books

Month-end, GST filing, reconciling a bank statement line by line, building a report - the work that wants a keyboard and a wide screen. A set of single-letter shortcuts jumps straight to the screen you need without touching the mouse - Add Payment is P, Add Expense is E, and the rest are listed on the same page. Desktop is also where an accountant or a CA with read-only access is most likely to be working, side by side with your books.

Switching between them

Sign-in is the same account everywhere, so switching devices mid-task is normal - start a purchase order on the phone at the supplier's counter, finish reviewing it on the desktop that evening. Nothing is device-locked; a workspace, a role and a plan follow you, not the screen you happen to be on.
