Your first jewellery invoice and beyond

Today's rate, a first invoice with a karat pricing breakup, old-gold exchange against an invoice, and a karigar job order, plus what is not set up yet.

Business owner

This is the shortest path from a new jewellery workspace to your first real entries: a rate, an invoice, an old-gold exchange and a karigar job order. Each step names the screen it happens on.

1. Enter today's rate

Open Jewellery → Rates. Enter the 24K and Silver 999 rate; the other purities are worked out by fineness and you can change any line before saving. Every rate is kept with its date and is never edited: a correction is a new rate. Open Jewellery rates & settings to choose the accounts that old-gold exchange, karigar settlement and digital gold post to. Nothing posts until those accounts are chosen, and the screen says so.

2. Your first invoice

Create an invoice as usual. On a jewellery line the Karat pricing breakup panel takes the purity, net weight (g), stone value, making (%) and wastage (%), and shows metal, stones and making plus wastage separately before you tap Apply breakup to line. GST is added by the invoice's own tax settings, like any other line.

The jewellery catalogue adds a HUID text field to the invoice line. It is a field you type and print; it is not a per-piece register yet.

3. Old-gold exchange

Save the invoice first. Then open Jewellery → Old-gold exchange, choose the invoice, and enter the gross weight (g), the deduction (%) and the rate per gram. It records the exchange against that invoice as one balanced entry. The value can never exceed the invoice total; the difference belongs on a credit note. A wrong entry is voided, which posts a reverse entry and keeps the original.

4. Karigar job order

Add your karigar as a supplier, then open Jewellery → Karigar job orders. Choose the karigar, enter the metal issued (g), and tap Issue job order. When the work returns, enter the metal received back; the screen shows the wastage and the fine loss. Settle posts the making charge and the wastage as one entry, once the karigar payable, wastage loss and metal inventory accounts are chosen. Whether wastage comes off your metal inventory or the karigar's payable is your choice in Jewellery settings.

5. Repairs, and billing one

Open Jewellery → Repairs and tap Book repair in. A repair moves from received through estimate, approval and the karigar's bench to ready and delivered. When it is ready or delivered, raise the invoice for it in the normal invoice editor, then come back, pick that invoice under Invoice for this repair and tap Link invoice. The repair then shows the invoice number and opens it. A repair links to one invoice, once, and when the repair names a customer the invoice must be raised to that customer. Linking does not post anything; the money is booked by the invoice itself.

Not set up yet

These need a database update that has not been applied on your workspace, and their screens say so rather than showing an empty list: a HUID, weights and fineness stored on each piece; a fine-metal ledger by party; several metals on one job order; the stored old-gold purchase voucher; stock counts by weight; and custom orders with an advance. Girvi and savings or instalment schemes are not offered.
