Photograph pages of a register into one import

Some books are paper. Photograph each page, or pick screenshots you already have, check them all on one screen - drop a blurred page, reorder, retake - and send them as a single import. Nothing leaves the phone until you send.

Some books are paper. A purchase register, a khata, a stack of supplier bills - there is no file to export and no spreadsheet to map. The phone in your hand is the scanner, and this screen turns several photographs into one import you can open, check and undo like any other.

Where to find it

Tap the round + button in the bottom-right corner of any screen and choose Photograph pages. On a phone it is also in the More sheet, below the module list. Both open Imports → Photograph pages.

Photograph, then check, then send

  1. Take a photo opens the camera for one page at a time, so you can turn the page between shots. Choose from gallery picks several at once - useful when somebody has already sent you screenshots of a ledger.
  2. Every page appears in a list, in the order it arrived, with a thumbnail big enough to see whether it is readable.
  3. Nothing has left your phone yet. Drop a blurred page, move a page earlier or later with the arrows, or retake one - a retake keeps its place in the order, so page two stays page two.
  4. Send uploads all of them as a single import and takes you straight to it.

What Finocket does with them

The pages become one job in your Imports inbox, marked Received, with each page recorded as a source file. Open the job to see its timeline and, once reading is switched on for photographed pages, the rows it found. Until then the job holds your pages safely and shows no rows - which the screen says, rather than showing you zero and letting you think the register was empty.

Send the same pages twice - a double tap, or a retry after the signal dropped - and Finocket opens the import you already made instead of creating a second one.

The limits, and why they are there

  • Ten pages per import. A longer register is several imports; send ten, then photograph the next ten.
  • Photographs and screenshots only - JPEG, PNG or WebP. A PDF statement or a spreadsheet goes through Import & migrate instead, which reads it properly rather than as a picture.
  • Each page is shrunk before it is sent. Finocket redraws every photograph to a size that stays readable but travels over a phone connection, so three pages are a few hundred kilobytes rather than fifteen megabytes.
  • If a page is still too large, or the batch is, the screen says so and tells you what to do - it never sends half of them.

If the camera will not open

The screen tells you which of the three things happened, because each has a different fix: permission was refused (allow the camera in your device settings), this device has no camera Finocket can open (use the gallery), or the camera failed this time (try again). Cancelling the camera yourself says nothing, because you already know.

Who can do it

Anyone who can add records to the workspace - the owner, an admin or an assistant. A read-only role, including an accountant with view access, sees the imports but cannot add one, and the screen says so rather than failing at the last tap.

What happens to the photographs afterwards

They are stored privately for your workspace and deleted automatically ninety days after the import is reconciled. You can delete them earlier from the import itself - the rows already brought into your books stay.
