Bring your jewellery books across from Tally

Export your Tally masters and Day Book as XML, import them, then set up rates, posting accounts and karigars for a jewellery shop.

Finocket reads a Tally XML export of your masters and your Day Book. It brings across the books; it does not know what a purity, a weight or a HUID is, because Tally has no such field to export. Those you set up after the import, below.

Export from Tally

  1. Gateway of Tally → Display More Reports → List of Accounts → Export → XML (Data Interchange) → All Masters
  2. For transactions: Gateway of Tally → Display More Reports → Day Book → set the period from your cut-over → Export → XML
  3. Drop the masters file first, then the Day Book (or one file that carries both). Each is read on your device and never uploaded.

What comes across today

Groups, accounts, opening balances, parties, items, party opening balances, and the invoices, bills, payments and journals in the period you chose. The mechanics (pick, map, dry run, import) are in Import your data.

What does not come across

  • Filed GST returns, IRNs and e-way bills, which belong to the portal that issued them
  • Bank-statement matches and reconciliations
  • Attached files and images
  • Voucher narration formatting and Tally's own print layouts
  • Purity, per-piece weight, HUID and metal balances: Tally does not export them as fields, so they are not claimed here

After the import

  1. Jewellery → Rates: enter today's rate.
  2. Jewellery rates & settings: your accountant chooses the accounts for old-gold exchange, karigar settlement and digital gold. Nothing posts until they are chosen.
  3. Add your karigars as suppliers, then use Karigar job orders.
  4. Follow your first jewellery invoice.
