You open the shutter, ring up a hundred bills, take two returns, run the offer on the board and count the drawer at closing — and the books still have to be right when the GST return is due. Whether you own the shop or stand at its counter, Finocket’s till writes the invoice and the payment for you, draws stock down at that shop, numbers the bill from that counter’s own series, and closes the day with a Z-report that says over or short rather than balanced.
Your first day
- Start with the map — the order a shop sets things up in (products, shops, opening stock, then the till) and the three decisions that cost the most to get wrong.
- Add your shop, its code and its tills — each shop numbers its own bills from 1 under its own prefix; every plan includes one shop, and each further shop is a flat price with no per-till or per-person meter.
- Load opening stock, then count the floor — sales draw stock down by themselves, low-stock items flag, and a count becomes the truth.
- Ring up the first sale — scan or type a barcode or SKU, take cash, a UPI QR or a split across several ways of paying, and the invoice and its payment are written for you. On a counter PC, F2 jumps to the scan box, F9 takes cash, F4 splits the bill, F6 parks it.
- Give counter staff their own login — invite them as an assistant, who can ring a sale, then post them to their shop from Who works here as cashier or manager, from a date.
Your rhythm
- Daily — open the register with the float, sell, park a bill to serve the next customer, take an exchange against the original bill, and close with the counted cash. Fourteen things a shop does walks each one, and the Z-report records the over/short rather than balancing it away. Parcels going out today are booked against their invoices from Parcels.
- Weekly — receive stock against the purchase order and match ordered, received and billed line by line; turn the Reorder-soon card into a draft purchase order; refresh tracking on parcels and let a returning one be recorded as an RTO; and reconcile the bank — every card and UPI line at the till carries a reference so it can be matched to its settlement.
- Monthly — count stock and post the variance from Stock count; total what each offer actually gave away; check the points liability on Loyalty; then GST week — counter sales already sit in GSTR-1 as B2C and returns as credit notes, so GSTR-1 and 3B build themselves.
- Yearly — decide what a point is worth and whether points expire on Loyalty, read Business health, which reads sales, stock and customers per shop, before deciding on the next one, and hand your CA the Tally export at year end.
If the owner switches them on, four scheduled agents are written for a shop: Counter cash versus UPI, which sets what the counter took yesterday, by how it was paid, against what actually reached the bank; Fast and dead movers, what turned this week and how much of your money is sitting in what has not moved in ninety days; Reorder proposal, a draft purchase order per supplier for what is below its reorder level at the rate you actually sell it; and a Batch and expiry watch while there is still time to sell, discount or return the stock. They read the records you already create and end in a notification — they never take a payment or message anybody.
The modules you’ll live in
Switch each one on under Modules & plans; the till also needs Invoicing.
- Retail till & shops — Point of sale · Shops · Offers · gift vouchers, issued from Gift vouchers and taken as a tender at the till, where a balance spent twice or a voucher past its printed date is refused.
- Loyalty programme — points, tiers, expiry and campaigns, with the liability posted to the accounts your accountant names.
- Couriers & parcels — Shiprocket, Delhivery or Blue Dart on your own account, or Finocket’s own where the platform has one.
- Items catalog — a read-only, shareable list of chosen items; to sell online from your own item master, connect Shopify or WooCommerce.
- Inventory & stock — the stock ledger, counts and transfers · Orders · Three-way match.
- GST & returns — GSTR-1 and 3B, built from the same bills the till wrote.
