You opened a screen or tapped a menu item and got a locked card instead of the feature itself. That card always tells you exactly why - here is what each version means and what to do about it.
"Ask your admin" or "Ask the workspace owner"
The module is available, but it is switched off for this workspace and you don't have the role to turn it on yourself. Tap the request button on the card - it sends a real request to your workspace owner or admin, the same one they would see if they opened Settings → Modules & features themselves. You'll see "Requested, waiting on your admin" the next time you open the same screen.
Accountant-role members see "Ask the workspace owner" specifically, because only the owner (not any admin) can act on an accountant's request.
"{name} asked for this" (you're the owner or admin)
Someone on your team already tapped Request on this same module. Approve or decline isn't wired up on this card yet - the fastest way to give them access today is the same "Turn on" button an owner always has, right there next to the request.
"Requested {when}, waiting on your admin"
You already asked. Nothing more to do - the request sits with your workspace owner or admin until they turn the module on or decline it. If it's been a while, a quick nudge outside the app is faster than asking again in here.
"Declined: {reason}"
Your workspace owner or admin looked at the request and said no, with the reason shown right on the card. If nothing was typed, it reads "No reason given." You can tap Ask again - a fresh request goes out the same way the first one did.
"Contact Finocket"
This module is locked platform-wide for your workspace, not by your own admin - the switch to turn it on doesn't exist even for an owner. This usually means it's part of a plan you're not on, or is still being rolled out carefully. Tap the button to reach Finocket support and ask about it directly.
"Upgrade to {plan}"
The module exists and works, but it's included on a higher plan than the one your workspace is on. An owner sees a button straight to the pricing page to compare plans and upgrade; anyone else sees "Ask your admin" instead, since only an owner can change the workspace's plan.
"Your role can't open this. Ask your admin."
This one isn't about the module being off - it's about your role. Some areas are restricted to certain roles regardless of whether the module itself is enabled for the workspace. There's no request button here because turning the module on wouldn't change anything for you; only a role change would, and that's your admin's call.
Why does the card look different depending on who's logged in?
Because the answer really is different depending on who's asking. A workspace owner or admin can turn most modules on immediately, so their card offers a direct switch. Everyone else can only ask, so their card offers a request instead - sent to the same place an owner or admin would see it, through the same mechanism the switchboard itself uses. Deeper detail on the switchboard, plans and what each badge (Trial, Managed, Beta) means lives in Modules & plans.
