Use cases

How a working day runs, step by step.

Cost a product from its formula

Know what one carton, jar or strip costs from raw and packing material.

  1. Add raw and packing materials
  2. Write the formula as a bill of materials
  3. Read the cost per unit
  4. Use it when you set the distributor price

Run production through your stages

Route a run through mixing, filling and packing with labour cost per step.

  1. Set up work centres for each stage
  2. Add the routing to the product
  3. Record the production run with the minutes for each stage
  4. Book finished goods at the rolled-up cost

Check capacity before you promise a date

See which stage is loaded from open work orders.

  1. Set the daily minutes for mixing, filling and packing
  2. Give open work orders a start and due date
  3. Open the capacity view for the next seven days
  4. Spot the stage flagged as overloaded
  5. Check which days are flagged overloaded before you commit a date

Prepare the HSN summary for GSTR-1

Get the HSN-wise figures across product lines for your return.

  1. Set the HSN and rate on each item
  2. Raise invoices as usual
  3. Open the HSN summary report
  4. Download the CSV and share it with your CA for GSTR-1

Ship an export order under LUT

Raise a foreign-currency export invoice under your Letter of Undertaking.

  1. Record your LUT details
  2. Raise the export invoice in the buyer's currency
  3. Check that the invoice prints your LUT number
  4. Send it with the shipping documents

Send material to a packer on a challan

Move material to a contract packer on a delivery challan with the job-work details on it.

  1. Create a delivery challan
  2. Set the challan purpose and the nature of job work
  3. Transfer the stock to a godown you keep for the packer
  4. On the goods-back challan, note the original challan number

Take a work order from plan to finished stock

Plan a run of jars or cartons as a work order and track its cost in progress until it closes.

  1. Plan a work order from a routed formula
  2. Start it and mark each stage done
  3. Complete it to book finished goods into stock
  4. Check open work-in-progress is back to zero

Put the lot number on each distributor invoice line

Record the lot number you packed against each line of the distributor invoice.

  1. Add a Batch / lot no. field to invoice lines
  2. Raise the distributor invoice as usual
  3. Type the lot number on each line
  4. Print or share the invoice with the lot number on it
  5. A production run does not create the lot yet: you type it

Re-cost a formula when a material price moves

The formula costs each raw and packing material at its last purchase price, so a dearer carton or base oil shows in the cost per unit.

  1. Record the supplier's bill with item lines at the new rate
  2. The purchase brings the stock in at that rate
  3. Open the product's bill of materials
  4. Each material shows the cost it used: last purchase, opening rate or selling rate
  5. Read the new cost per unit

Send finished goods from the factory to a depot

Move stock between the factory store and a depot, shown in transit until it arrives.

  1. Add the factory store and the depot as godowns
  2. Draft a transfer of finished goods
  3. Send it, and the stock shows as in transit
  4. Mark it received at the depot
  5. See stock by godown on the inventory screen
