How a working day runs, step by step.

Raise a running bill from site measurements

The site engineer's measurements become a bill the client's engineer can check line by line. Quantities carried over from earlier bills are not built yet.

  1. Apply the Contractors & site work kit from your items page
  2. Open a new bill and type the site and the work order no.
  3. Add each line by length, area or volume at a rate per unit
  4. Note where on site each line of work was done
  5. Share the PDF with the site and work order printed on it

Get an estimate accepted online

A client approves the quote from a link before work starts, and the accepted quote becomes the bill.

  1. Raise an estimate for the work
  2. Share the accept link with the client
  3. The client accepts with their name, and you see when they did
  4. Convert the accepted estimate into a bill

Bill a job in stages

Bill each stage of a job against the estimate, and see what is left to bill.

  1. Open a new bill and pick the estimate it draws on
  2. Bill a percentage or an amount for this stage
  3. See what is billed so far and what remains
  4. A stage that would bill more than the estimate is refused, or a percentage stage is capped to what remains

Record TDS your client deducted

A client pays the bill net of TDS; the receipt records the deduction so the bill closes at its full value.

  1. Record the payment against the bill
  2. Turn on client deducted TDS and enter the amount withheld
  3. The bill closes at its full value, with the TDS kept as a receivable
  4. Open the TDS summary at quarter end and compare it with Form 26AS yourself

Pay a sub-contractor with TDS

Deduct TDS on a sub-contractor's bill, record the deposit and get the quarterly return files ready.

  1. Enter the sub-contractor's bill as a purchase
  2. Pick the TDS section and check the suggested rate
  3. Record the challan when you deposit the TDS
  4. Check deducted against deposited for the quarter
  5. Download the quarterly 26Q files to prepare the return

See profit per site

Every bill and every expense tagged to a site, so the site P&L is a report rather than a spreadsheet.

  1. Switch on Cost centres in your modules
  2. Create a cost centre for each site
  3. Tag each bill and expense to its site
  4. Open cost centres to see each site's income, costs and profit

Prepare the e-way bill for material going to site

For a consignment above the e-way bill limit, Finocket builds the e-way bill file from your challan or invoice. It does not yet generate the e-way bill on its own; you upload the file.

  1. Raise the delivery challan or invoice for the material
  2. Download the e-way bill file, typing the distance and vehicle
  3. Upload the file on the e-way bill portal
  4. Give the e-way bill to the driver

Buy site material against a purchase order

Order cement or steel, receive it, and check the supplier's bill against what was ordered and received.

  1. Raise a purchase order to the supplier
  2. Record the goods receipt when the material arrives
  3. Scan or enter the supplier's bill against the order
  4. Check ordered, received and billed side by side

Move stock from the godown to a site

Material sent to a site leaves the godown's stock and shows up at the site.

  1. Add each site as a godown
  2. Raise a transfer from the main godown to the site
  3. Mark it in transit when the truck leaves
  4. Mark it received when it reaches the site
  5. See stock by location

Hand the year to your CA

Give your CA the books and reports instead of a box of bills.

  1. Invite your CA from Team with the accountant role
  2. Your CA opens your bills, TDS and reports in the same books
  3. Download the hand-to-CA bundle at year end
  4. Download the Tally export if your CA works in Tally
