How a working day runs, step by step.

Festive rush billing

A queue at the counter during Diwali, each customer paying a different way. The offers you set up come off the bill without the cashier working them out.

  1. Scan each tag at the till, or type the SKU
  2. Offers on the Promotions screen without a code (percent off, flat off, buy some and get some free) apply to the bill by themselves
  3. Type the coupon code for an offer meant for one customer
  4. Split the payment across cash, card, UPI and a gift voucher checked by its code
  5. Print the receipt from your browser
  6. For a named customer with a phone number, tap Share to open WhatsApp with the receipt and send it

Move stock to the store that needs it

A size runs out at one store and sits on the shelf at another. A transfer counts goods in the van as in transit, not at either end.

  1. Add your warehouse and each store as a stock location on the Inventory screen
  2. Draft a transfer: the location sending, the one receiving, the item and the quantity
  3. Send it, and the stock leaves the sending location and shows as in transit
  4. Receive it when the goods arrive, and the stock lands at the other location
  5. The transfer list shows when each one was sent and received, and how many days it took

Buy from a supplier and check what arrived

A purchase order to a distributor, and a delivery that does not quite match it.

  1. Raise a purchase order to the distributor from Orders
  2. When the delivery comes, open the order's 3-way match and record what arrived, line by line
  3. Enter any pieces you reject, with a reason, on the same receipt
  4. Posting the receipt adds what arrived to stock
  5. Scan the distributor's bill against the order and check the lines it read before you save
  6. The match shows ordered, received and billed for each line, and flags the ones that do not agree

Bring regulars back

Repeat customers in a town where the next shop is two doors down. Points go to a named customer; a walk-in bill earns none.

  1. Set how many points a bill earns, what a point is worth and when points expire on the Loyalty screen
  2. Run a bonus campaign that multiplies points between two dates for a festival week
  3. Find the customer by name or phone at the till, or add them there
  4. Points are added to their balance when the bill is saved
  5. On a later visit, pay part of the bill with points; points cannot be used while the till is offline
  6. Sell a gift voucher on the Vouchers screen; the money is recorded and the card pays on a later bill

Print shelf labels

New stock arrives without barcodes from the supplier, so you print your own.

  1. Give each item a barcode or SKU on the item form
  2. Open Labels from the Products screen and enter how many of each item to print
  3. Choose Code128, EAN-13, UPC-A or QR, and the label size
  4. An item whose code the chosen type cannot carry is named on screen, so you can switch to Code128
  5. Print the sheet from your browser; the till finds each item by the code on its label

Close the day at each counter

Each till's drawer is counted and matched before the shutters come down.

  1. Open the drawer on each till with the morning's float
  2. At closing, enter any cash paid out with a reason, count the cash and close the drawer
  3. Open the Z-report and pick that till's session
  4. Read the takings by cash, card, UPI, voucher and points, with the number of bills, the average bill and discounts
  5. See what should be in the drawer and whether the count is over or short, then print the report

Hold a bill while the customer tries another size

A parked bill is a cart, not an invoice, so a customer who walks away leaves no gap in your bill numbers.

  1. Tap Park, or press F6, and give the bill a name to find it by
  2. The till clears for the next customer in the queue
  3. When the customer is back, open the parked list and recall their bill
  4. Recalling takes it off the list, so two cashiers cannot ring up the same cart
  5. Finish the sale and take payment as usual

Count the shelves and correct the stock

A floor count with a scanner in one hand. Nothing changes in your stock until you finish.

  1. Open Count from the Inventory screen
  2. Scan each product's barcode, or type its SKU or name
  3. Type how many you counted; each line shows the difference against your books as you go
  4. Delete a mis-scan before you finish
  5. Finish, and only the products you counted are corrected

Give contractors their trade rate

Plumbers and electricians buying for a site pay the rates on their own price list, and a walk-in pays the catalogue price.

  1. Create a trade price list on the Price lists screen
  2. Enter the trade rate for each item, or import the rates from a CSV file
  3. Set that price list on each contractor's customer record
  4. Pick the contractor at the till or on an invoice, and each line takes their rate
  5. A bill with no customer picked stays at the catalogue rate

Run more than one shop

Each shop has its own tills, bill series and staff roster under one business.

  1. Add a shop on the Shops screen, or copy an existing one to give it its own tills and bill series
  2. Post each cashier to their shop with a role and a start date
  3. Each till bills under the shop it belongs to
  4. Record a shop's walk-ins for the day
  5. Compare each shop's sales per month on the Business health report
