Set up a pharmacy on Finocket: batch, expiry, MRP & Schedule H

Bring your stock and customers across from Marg, Tally or a spreadsheet, apply the pharmacy catalogue kit for MRP, salt/generic name and drug licence, track batch and expiry with automatic FEFO picking, and keep a Schedule H/H1/X prescription register.

Business owner

A pharmacy or medical store needs a few things a generic retail counter does not: billing off the printed MRP, a batch and expiry on every line, your drug licence on the bill, and a record of every Schedule H, H1 or X sale. Here's how to bring your data across and set it up during onboarding.

Bring your stock and customers across

On Import your data, pick where your books live today. If you run Marg - the most common pharmacy software in India - its HSN/item master and Purchase Bill exports carry real batch, expiry, MRP and HSN columns that Finocket reads directly; a spreadsheet you have kept by hand, or a Tally XML export, both work too. Marg is offered first on the Pick screen once you have told onboarding you run a pharmacy.

Apply the pharmacy catalogue kit

On Products, apply the Pharmacy & medical store kit. It adds the real fields a chemist needs without you hunting through a generic item form for them: MRP and salt/generic name and manufacturer on the item, batch and expiry on every invoice line, and a drug licence number field on the bill itself.

Batch, expiry & FEFO

Turn on Track inventory for a product and record what you hold by batch number and expiry date - on the Inventory screen or when you record a purchase. From then on, every sale of a batch-tracked item - from the invoice screen, your till, a recurring invoice or the API - automatically draws from the batch closest to its expiry date first (FEFO, first-expiry-first-out), so older stock clears before newer stock. The Inventory screen also flags batches expiring soon, with the quantity still on hand.

Schedule H, H1 & X

Mark an item's drug schedule (H, H1 or X) on its item form - that field appears once you have applied the pharmacy kit. From then on, selling that item at the till or on an invoice asks for the patient's name and address and the prescriber's name and registration number. It never blocks the sale: a sale made without those details is still recorded, marked Not noted, so the register shows the gap rather than hiding it. Every scheduled sale - noted or not - lands on Reports → Schedule H register, with the batch it drew from and a CSV export for your records. This is a record-keeping aid, not a filing - whether your shop needs to file anything with it is your call.

Your drug licence

Once the pharmacy kit is applied, a Drug licence no. field shows on your invoice - fill it in once and it prints on every bill, the way the pharmacy document template expects.
