Open an invoice, an estimate or a payment receipt and tap Share. WhatsApp opens on your own phone with your client's message already written and a private link to the PDF in it. You press send, so the message comes from your number and nothing goes out on your behalf.
What the link does
- It expires. A link works for 30 days unless you choose a shorter time, and never for longer than 90 days.
- You can take it back. Choose Stop sharing on the same menu and every link you sent for that document stops working straight away. Whoever opens it after that is told it was withdrawn.
- It belongs to one document. A link opens the one PDF it was made for, and nothing else in your books.
- It cannot be guessed. Finocket keeps only a fingerprint of each link, so nobody, including us, can look one up.
Your other ways to send
- Share via (on a phone) hands the link to any app you choose.
- Copy link puts it on your clipboard to paste into a chat, an email or an SMS.
- Email on an invoice still sends the PDF as an email.
Receipts and invoices you email
The PDF link inside an emailed invoice or payment receipt works for 7 days. After that, open the document in Finocket and send it again to get a fresh link.
Phone numbers
Type a client's number however you like: 98765 43210, +91 98765 43210 or 098765 43210 all open the same WhatsApp chat. If the number cannot be a real mobile number, WhatsApp opens without a contact and lets you pick the person yourself.
What this does not do
Sharing this way is not a sending service. Finocket does not know whether you pressed send or whether the client read the message. It does record that a link was made, that you chose a way to share it, and every time it was opened, so you can see whether it was.
One limit to know about: the link protects the address you send, but a PDF that someone already holds the direct file address of is not covered by Stop sharing. Share the link, not the file address.
