Use cases

How a working day runs, step by step.

Quote a new part from its real cost

Build the part's bill of materials, roll up the cost and quote the customer from it.

  1. Add the raw material and bought-out items
  2. Create a bill of materials for the part
  3. Read the rolled-up cost per piece
  4. Raise an estimate for the customer from that cost

Run a work order from plan to finished stock

Track a batch of parts through the shop and close it into stock with its cost.

  1. Plan a work order for the quantity
  2. Start it and book each routing step
  3. Close it into finished goods
  4. Check the WIP ledger is back to zero

Charge machine time to the job

Route a part through named work centres so each hour on a machine lands on the job.

  1. Set up work centres with an hourly rate
  2. Add a routing to the part
  3. Enter the actual minutes for each step on the run
  4. Read the material and labour cost for the run

Send material to a job worker on a challan

Issue material for plating, heat treatment or machining on a delivery challan with the job-work details on it.

  1. Create a delivery challan
  2. Set the challan purpose and nature of job work
  3. Transfer the stock to a godown you keep for the job worker
  4. On the goods-back challan, note the original challan number

Dispatch with the e-way bill details on the invoice

Keep vehicle, transporter and e-way bill number with the sale so the CA and the transporter see the same thing.

  1. Raise the tax invoice or delivery challan
  2. Fill in the vehicle and transporter
  3. Download the e-way bill JSON from the document
  4. Upload it on the e-way bill portal
  5. Type the e-way bill number back onto the invoice

Give your CA the books, not a pile of files

Invite your CA into the workspace to read the books and prepare GST returns.

  1. Invite your CA as an accountant from Team
  2. Your CA reads sales, purchases and stock
  3. Prepare GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B for the month
  4. Download the return for your CA, or file on the portal yourself

See which machine is loaded next week

A load view of each work centre from your open work orders, before you commit a delivery date.

  1. Set the minutes each work centre can run per day
  2. Give open work orders a start and due date
  3. Open Capacity to see the next seven days' load
  4. Spot the work centre flagged as overloaded
  5. Read which days are flagged overloaded before you quote a date

Print the heat or lot number on each invoice line

Type the lot on the sale line so it prints on the invoice.

  1. Add the Batch / lot no. field to invoice lines
  2. Raise the invoice as usual
  3. Type the heat or lot number on each line
  4. The invoice prints the lot number against the line

Move stock between your plant and godowns

Send raw material or finished parts from one location to another, shown in transit until it arrives.

  1. Add each plant, store or godown as a location
  2. Draft a transfer and pick the items
  3. Send it, and the stock shows as in transit
  4. Mark it received at the other end
  5. See stock by location on the inventory screen

Re-cost a part when a material price moves

The bill of materials costs each material at its last purchase price, so a dearer casting or steel bar shows in the cost per piece.

  1. Record the supplier's bill with item lines at the new rate
  2. The purchase brings the stock in at that rate
  3. Open the part's bill of materials
  4. Each material shows the cost it used: last purchase, opening rate or selling rate
  5. Read the new cost per piece
