Tally alternative

A Tally alternative for solo professionals on a phone.

TallyPrime runs on a Windows computer, or on Tally's hosted virtual computer, and from a phone you can read its reports only. If you run your practice from a phone, Finocket lets you raise GST invoices, record payments and the TDS your clients deduct, and keep double-entry books there, then hand your CA a Tally XML export when they ask.

What Tally is great at

TallyPrime has full double-entry accounting, GST and statutory reports, and keyboard-first screens that many accountants have used for years. If your CA keeps your books in Tally, it fits the way they already work.

Pick Tally if…

  • You do your own accounts at a Windows computer and like keyboard-first entry
  • Your CA wants your books in Tally itself, not an export
  • You rely on TDL customisations or add-ons built for Tally

Pick Finocket if…

  • You bill clients between meetings, from your phone
  • You want each payment recorded with the TDS your client deducted, so the invoice still reads as paid
  • You want receipts and invoices on WhatsApp in one tap
  • You want to hand your CA a Tally XML export, or invite them read-only on the Starter plan, instead of sending a Tally backup

Tally alternative for solo professionals on a phone FAQ

TallyPrime installs on a Windows computer, or runs on Tally's hosted virtual computer (TallyPrime Cloud Access) from Chrome on Windows or Mac. Its Reports in Browser feature lets you read reports from a phone's browser while TallyPrime runs, with a Tally.NET ID, and Tally's remote-access FAQ says you cannot access your Tally data remotely using your mobile.

Finocket runs on Android, iPhone and the web. You raise GST invoices, record payments with the TDS your client deducted, share receipts on WhatsApp and keep double-entry books. Free for solo users until 31 Dec 2026 — no partner code needed. ₹99/month after that.

Your CA can open your books with a read-only invite on the Starter plan, or you can hand them a Tally XML export of masters and vouchers to load into TallyPrime.

Yes. The Tally import is in beta. Export your masters from Tally as XML and Finocket brings across ledgers, groups, parties, stock items and opening balances. It refuses opening books that don't balance rather than adding a balancing figure.
