Challenges

The manual work this trade still runs on, what it costs, and what changes.

  1. The job's specification never reaches the bill

    How it is done today
Size, GSM, colours and finishing arrive on WhatsApp or by phone, and the bill just says 'printing charges'.
    Cost or risk
A reorder or a dispute starts from memory, and a job is reprinted on the wrong stock or without its lamination.
    With Finocket
Material, GSM, finished size, colours and finishing sit on each invoice line, so the bill is the job record.
  2. Nobody remembers whose paper it was

    How it is done today
Customer-supplied paper is noted in a register or not at all, and the accountant asks months later.
    Cost or risk
Whether a job is job work, a printing service or a sale of goods turns on that fact, and a wrong guess means the wrong GST treatment.
    With Finocket
'Paper supplied by' is recorded on the job, and your CA sees it in the same books. Finocket never picks the rate.
  3. Proof approvals are verbal

    How it is done today
The customer says 'okay, print it' on a call, and the proof sits in a chat thread.
    Cost or risk
When the colour or a spelling is disputed after the run, the reprint is at the press's cost.
    With Finocket
The proof approval date is a field on the job record, so the date is there when someone asks. Versioned online proof approval is not built yet.
  4. Quotes are chased by phone

    How it is done today
A PDF or a typed message goes out, and acceptance is a 'yes' somewhere in a chat.
    Cost or risk
There is no record of which version was accepted or when, and open quotes are forgotten.
    With Finocket
Send the estimate as a link; the customer accepts online with a typed name, and the accepted estimate becomes the invoice.
  5. Sheets sent out for binding or lamination go untracked

    How it is done today
A handwritten challan book, and a call to the binder to ask what came back.
    Cost or risk
Sheets go missing between vendors, and the movement has no document behind it when it is checked.
    With Finocket
Issue a delivery challan for the sheets, with an e-way bill where the movement needs one. Linking returned goods to the challan is not built yet.
  6. TDS on job workers is worked out at year end

    How it is done today
Binder and laminator bills are paid in full, and TDS is calculated by hand when the CA asks.
    Cost or risk
Missed deductions and deposits carry interest and a late-filing exposure.
    With Finocket
Book the job worker's bill as an expense with TDS, and track deducted against deposited each quarter.
  7. Delivery dates live in the owner's head

    How it is done today
Promised dates are written on a slip or a whiteboard by the press.
    Cost or risk
Rush jobs collide on the same press and a customer's event date is missed.
    With Finocket
Each job carries a job number and a delivery date, and work-centre capacity shows which press is booked.
  8. Month end is a file hand-off to the CA

    How it is done today
Bills, a sales register and a bank statement are sent in a zip or a folder.
    Cost or risk
Returns are filed from a reconstruction of the month, late, and questions come back a week later.
    With Finocket
Your CA works in the same books with the accountant role, and GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B are prepared from your own invoices.
