Report builder — build your own report, free

A column-picker report builder over five datasets — invoices, expenses, payments, clients and items sold — with filters, grouping, sort, totals and your own custom fields. Un-gated for every user; save reports as company assets and run them from the library.

The report builder lets you shape your own report — no code, no spreadsheet export. Pick a dataset, tick the columns you want, add filters, group and total. It's free for every user: unlike the tiered, paid custom-report builders in most accounting suites, Finocket's builder has no plan gate.

The five datasets

  • Invoices — every invoice with its client, status, dates and totals.
  • Expenses — bills and spends with category, supplier, tax and amount.
  • Payments — receipts with client, mode, TDS and amount.
  • Clients — your customer list with location, GSTIN and type.
  • Items sold — item sales lines (what sold, how much, for how much).

Columns, filters, grouping and totals

Tick columns to select them. Add a filter to keep only the rows you care about — equals, not-equals, in a list, greater/less than, contains, or is/ isn't blank. Choose a group by column to roll rows up (each group shows a count and your chosen totals), pick which numeric columns to total, and sort largest-first. The preview updates live as you build.

Your custom fields, included

Any custom field you've defined for invoices, expenses, payments or clients shows up as a column and a filter automatically — it rides the same field name (api name) the API and CSV export use.

Save and re-run

Give a report a name and Save it. Saved reports are company assets: they appear in the reports library and anyone on your team who can read that dataset can run them. Export any run to CSV. Start from a preset — Sales by customer, Purchases by category or Sales by item — tweak it, and Save As your own.

Access

The builder itself is open to everyone. A saved report only shows its data to a member who can read that dataset's area — a teammate whose invoice access was removed won't see an invoices report. Saved reports are also available over the API and the AI assistant (MCP).

Frequently asked questions

Does the report builder cost extra?

No. It's free for every user, with no plan or tier gate — that's deliberate. Most accounting suites paywall custom reports behind higher tiers; Finocket ships the builder un-gated.

Which datasets can I report on?

Five: invoices, expenses, payments, clients and items sold. Pick one, choose columns, add filters, group, sort and total.

Do my custom fields show up?

Yes — any custom field you've defined for invoices, expenses, payments or clients appears as a column and a filter automatically, by its api name.

Can my team run my saved reports?

Saved reports are company assets in the reports library. A teammate can run one as long as they can read that dataset's area; if their access to, say, invoices was removed, an invoices report stays hidden from them.
