On a new invoice, open an item line and, in its pricing section (“Price by size, weight or hours”), choose “Price by karat, stone & making charge instead”. This option is shown for item lines rather than charge lines.
Enter the price inputs
Choose the metal and purity through the purity selector, then enter net weight in grams. Choose making as a percent of metal value, per gram of net weight, or a flat charge per piece. Enter wastage as a percent of metal value and an optional flat stone value.
With jewellery v3 enabled, the editor also offers a second metal and stones by carat weight and rate. Positive carat weight and rate take precedence over the flat stone value.
Check the rate
Today's rate comes from the shop's saved metal rates: the newest loaded rate for the selected metal and purity is used. The editor links to jewellery settings to manage rates. A customer order's locked rate can replace the shop rate.
For an unlocked rate, the editor shows a stale-rate warning when the rate for the main metal and purity is older than the shop's configured age limit. The warning advises you to record a new rate; it does not stop you applying the line. A rate-loading error is also shown. A missing metal rate produces a calculation error; the apply button needs a calculated result.
Use item details and apply
With jewellery v3 enabled, a selected item's saved details can prefill purity, making mode and value, and wastage on a line without a saved breakup. Prefill stops after you change purity, making or wastage, and does not happen when a customer order's locked rate is in use.
Review the calculated metal, stone and charge totals and line rate, then apply. The line keeps the inputs, calculated breakup and rates used, alongside a derived rate before GST. GST is handled by the invoice's tax calculation.
Edit a draft invoice
Only a draft invoice can be edited. When you open one, a line priced with this editor keeps its saved breakup, and the editor restores the inputs you entered. The result is worked out again from the rates the form has loaded, not from the rates in force when you first applied the line, so check the figures before you save. A customer order's locked rate is not loaded when you edit a draft, so applying the line again prices it at the shop's current rate. The saved breakup is replaced only when you press Apply; saving without pressing it keeps what was stored. Choosing “Switch to plain measured pricing” clears the breakup from that line.
Read the preview and print
With the jewellery v3 option on for your workspace, the invoice view and PDF show the saved breakup: metal purity, weight, rate and value; stones when there are any; and making and wastage when they are not zero. These details use the saved calculation rather than recalculating at today’s rate. GST appears in the tax totals.
