Bring your own AI keys

Run Finocket's AI on your own Anthropic, OpenAI or Google account. Set a company-wide key or a personal key that overrides it just for you — stored encrypted per workspace, with your own-key usage metered separately.

Finocket ships with AI built in — the assistant chat, scan-to-add and voice dictation all work out of the box on Finocket's own AI. If you would rather run those features on your own AI provider account, you can bring your own keys. Open Profile → AI provider keys.

Company, personal, or included — how a key is chosen

Finocket supports three providers — Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI and Google (Gemini) — and picks which key to use in a fixed order every time it makes an AI call:

  • Your personal key — if you set one, it is used for your own AI activity and overrides everything below, just for you.
  • The company key — a workspace-wide key the owner sets. It applies to everyone in the workspace who has not set a personal key.
  • Finocket's included AI — the fallback when neither a personal nor a company key is configured. You never have to set a key for AI to work.

Who can set what

Only the workspace owner can set or remove the company-wide key. Every user — owner, assistant or your accountant — can set and remove their own personal key. If you are not the owner, the company option is hidden and you manage only your personal key.

How your keys are kept safe

Every key is encrypted per workspace (AES-256-GCM) before it is stored — the plaintext key never lands in the database, and the encryption is bound to your workspace so a stored key cannot be reused elsewhere. For that reason a key is never shown again after you save it; to change one, paste a new key to replace it. The settings screen only ever shows whether a key is set, never the key itself.

Billing and metering

When AI runs on your own key, the usage is billed by your provider to your account, not by Finocket. Finocket meters your own-key AI usage separately so you can see it apart from usage on the included AI — see Profile → Usage & activity for your AI activity and estimated cost.

Getting a key

  • Anthropic: console.anthropic.com → API keys.
  • OpenAI: platform.openai.com → API keys.
  • Google: aistudio.google.com → API keys.

Paste the key into the matching provider card, choose company or personal scope, and Save. Remove it any time to fall back to the next key in the order above.
